Following the success of its first restaurant in Covent Garden, this American-style burger chain has rapidly expanded to more than 40 establishments in just two years. It was established in 2013, when Carphone Warehouse founder Sir Charles Dunstone, 51, was inspired by the popularity of Five Guys in America, and created this joint venture with the founding Murrell family to bring its handmade burgers and crispy bacon milkshakes to the UK high street. The UK business is led by chief executive John Eckbert, 48, and sales are expected to rise 152% to £60m this year. It plans to open 34 new restaurants in the next year, including three in France and one in Spain.
