At the age of 15, Graham Roach started working in the family poultry processing business set up by his father, Norman, in 1962. He merged with the pork supplier Dalehead Foods in 1999, and now juggles the business with his horse-racing interests – funded by personal wealth estimated at £95m. The combined business, Flagship Foods, claims to be the country’s second-largest supplier of pork, bacon and cooked meat to British supermarkets and caterers. The Cornish company reported a £64m increase in sales to £366m in 2001, when it employed 3,095 people.
