It takes just 96 hours for a flower picked at one of Flamingo’s farms in Kenya to make it to a British supermarket shelf. Its African farms help supply 780m flowers to retailers every year. It also grows and sources 26m kilograms of fresh vegetables for customers including Waitrose and Sainsbury’s. Led by chief executive Martin Hudson, 60, the Hertfordshire firm acquired UK plant nursery business Butters Group for an undisclosed sum last year.
