Exeter-based Flybe counts itself as one of Europe’s top four low-cost airlines. The company operates out of 19 regional airports in Britain and expects to carry more than 5m passengers this year. It says 80% of its passangers take domestic flights, and 20% go to sun, ski and regional French destinations. The airline is owned by the family trust of the late steel tycoon, Jack Walker, its staff and management, and is chaired by Jim French. Sales totalled £267.3m in the year to March 2005.
