Focus DIY

Apax and Duke Street Capital, owners of the DIY giant Focus Wickes, sold the Wickes chain to Travis Perkins for £1 billion last December. What’s left is Focus DIY, which trades under the Focus and No Frills brands and caters for Britain’s DIY enthusiasts. Sales at Focus DIY came to an annualised £812m in 2004. The company was founded in 1987 by Bill Archer, who built it into the No*2 player behind B&Q by acquiring Do It All, Wickes and Great Mills for about £660m. After a refinancing earlier this year, Focus DIY is preparing to expand, with plans to open 50 new stores.
