This firm provides payment, messaging and telephony software to customers principally in the media, entertainment and gaming industries, such as Channel 5, the BBC and the Daily Mail. Formerly known as Orca Digital, the enlarged group was established in 2014 after chief executive and serial entrepreneur Rob Weisz, 38, merged Orca with his mobile payments company. An earlier Weisz business, Mobile Interactive Group, topped Tech Track 100 in 2008, before being bought for £37m by the US mobile marketing giant Velti in 2011. Fonix’s sales reached £41.5m in 2016.
