Formfill sells software that captures and exchanges data from forms. Martin Evans, a former software programmer, founded the firm in 1994 with Peter Kennedy, a businessman, but dramatic growth began only in 1998 with the deregulation of the utilities industry. Suddenly 14 electricity companies were competing for customers. They made themselves attractive by offering customers electronic transfer of data, so they didn’t have to fill out new forms when they changed supplier. Formfill’s sales have grown 151% a year, from £253,000 in 1998 to £1.6m in 2000.
