Its motor races are among the most widely watched sports events in the world, with each race attracting 150m television viewers around the globe. Formula One Administration holds the sport’s commercial rights and is now controlled by CVC, the private-equity group, but Bernie Ecclestone and his family retain an undisclosed stake. Ecclestone, whose name has been synonymous with Formula One for more than 30 years, remains chief executive. In recent years China, Bahrain and Turkey have joined the list of race venues, and Abu Dhabi will follow in 2009. Sales reached £433m in 2005.
