Controversy over rules and regulations, a new circuit in Abu Dhabi, and Jenson Button’s winning start to the season with the new Brawn GP team have kept Formula One exciting this year. Bernie Ecclestone has expanded the sport into one of the world’s premier spectator events, and his family still owns a minority share in the parent company of Formula One Administration, which controls the worldwide commercial rights to the sport. In 2006 CVC Capital Partners acquired a majority interest, and in 2008 sales reached £571m, a figure that does not include the majority of Formula One Group’s operations overseas.
