Norman Foster’s firm is responsible for dozens of landmark buildings. Its designs include the new Beijing airport, Wembley stadium, and France’s spectacular Millau viaduct, the world’s highest road bridge. Foster + Partners has won more than 500 awards for design excellence since it was founded in 1967, and it has 15 offices worldwide. In May 2007, 3i invested an undisclosed sum for a minority stake. Despite several projects being cancelled or postponed leading to lay-offs, the company’s sales still increased to £153.9m in 2009.
