Four Seasons owns and operates 422 nursing homes, providing residential care for more than 15,000 elderly people and those with mental problems. It also runs a special services division catering to those with learning disabilities, brain injuries and special needs. In 2006, the business was bought by Three Delta, the Qatari government-backed investment fund, in a £1.4 billion deal. Led by chief executive Pete Calveley, sales grew to £414.1m in 2007. In September, the company’s lenders, including RBS, agreed to halve the company’s debt burden in return for stakes in the business.
