This Kent-based food producer has its roots in David Friday’s hobby of keeping chickens in the 1950s. The company now operates 11 sites in the county and David’s sons, Malcolm and Andrew, oversee the production and distribution of eggs to leading supermarkets and caterers across Britain. A £2m investment in the late 1990s allowed the company to diversify into chilled food. Its profits rose 83% a year from £589,000 in 2005 to £3.6m in 2008.
