The airport has been shortlisted by the government alongside Heathrow for Britain’s next new runway and awaits a final decision later this year. A consortium led by Global Infrastructure Partners acquired the company in 2009 for a reported £1.5bn. Stewart Wingate, 44, is chief executive.
