International Track 200

This Leeds company was formed in 2001 when the co-founders bought the rights to a particular type of hair-styling iron from a South Korean inventor. Today, the name is practically synonymous with the product, and “GHDs” are sold worldwide – mainly through salons and a website. The company is led by chief executive Paul Stoneham, and in 2007 Montagu Private Equity backed a £160m buyout from LDC. Endorsement by the likes of American pop star Katy Perry helped international sales grow 21% a year from £58.4m in 2008 to £85.9m in 2010.
