This Hull-based firm was set up as an internet service provider more than 20 years ago, before changing direction to focus on the cloud computing market. Now more than 3,000 software resellers, consultants and IT service providers use Giacom’s cloud-based platform to buy software ranging from email and document storage, to encryption and antivirus products. Last year it launched a cloud-based alternative to on-site servers, which it offered for free during the pandemic along with existing products, in a bid to help customers stay afloat. Chief executive Mike Wardell, 39, led a management buyout in 2017 from the founder, Nick Marshall, 50, in a deal funded by private equity firm Livingbridge. Sales reached £35.5m last year.
