Gladedale is the third foray into business for Remo Dipre, a serial entrepreneur. By means of takeovers, Dipre has built Gladedale into a group of regional housebuilders. Its sales have grown 99% a year from an annualised £30m in 2000 to an annualised £237m in 2003. Profits are also very healthy, thanks to booming house prices. In the past four years the company has acquired Furlong Homes for £24m, Castlegait Homes and Bett Homes for £95m, which extended its reach into Scotland.
