This is the holding company for a number of regional housebuilders and was founded in 1992 by Remo Dipre, a serial entrepreneur. His fondness for acquisitions has helped the Epsom company’s sales grow almost 93% a year from £8.6m in 1999 to £61.4m in 2002. In June 2000, the company paid £24m for Furlong Homes, which builds houses in London and southeast England. In October 2001 it set up Castlegait Homes as a joint venture with Kilmartin Property, and a year later gained full control when it bought out Kilmartin. Earlier this year Gladedale acquired Bett Homes for £95m, extending its reach into Scotland.
