Global Energy Group is a Scottish services and contracting business based in Inverness and Aberdeen that builds and maintains engineering equipment for the energy and oil-and-gas sectors. Founder and chairman Roy MacGregor, 61, sold a 25% stake in the group to giant Japanese company Mitsui in 2012 for an undisclosed sum. The investment funded the acquisition of two Australian companies, and profits more than doubled to £28.1m in 2013.
