GM Communications was set up in 1972 by chairman Shigetada Nakanishi and Masaaki Kageshima to cater for the demands of Japanese travellers in Europe. It has subsidiaries across the Continent. In Britain its main operation is Miki Travel, which is based in London and managed by George Moriuchi. This arm of the business handles tours all over the world, working through its Rex online reservation system and partnerships with agents, hotels and service suppliers worldwide. In 2004, GM Communications had sales of £228m.
