GM Communications

The Japanese are keen to travel around Europe, and tour operator GM Communications was created in 1972 by chairman Shigetada Nakanishi and Masaaki Kageshima to help them do just that. It now has subsidiaries in Europe and Asia and its main British operation is London-based Miki Travel, run by managing director George Moriuchi. Miki says it serves hundreds of thousands of travellers every year through its Europe-wide network, allowing it to negotiate good deals with agents, hotels and service suppliers. In 2005, the firm’s annualised sales reached £253.9m.
