This travel operator, trading as Miki Travel, was founded in 1967, successfully tapping into the Japanese fondness for holidays in Europe. Operating only as a wholesaler, it now has subsidiaries across Europe and the Far East, allowing travel agents to book rooms and group holiday packages through an online reservation system called Mikinet. Managing director Tetsunori Dambara, 50, saw profits grow to £14.2m in 2012.
