The reality television series Kitchen Nightmares may have proved a nightmare for lacklustre chefs across Britain, but it has done no harm to Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant business. Gordon Ramsay Holdings has three London restaurants, including the most successful – Ramsay at Claridge’s – and three restaurants jointly owned with chefs Angela Hartnett and Marcus Wareing. Driven by the continuing upward march of Ramsay’s celebrity, and defying a general downturn in its sector, the group has boosted sales 84% a year, from £5m in 2001 to £31m in 2004.
