The tugs and barges of this Kent-based marine services company are a familiar sight on the Thames and Medway rivers, and it also operates in European waters. Its work moving excavated spoils and cargo for the Thames Tideway tunnel, now under construction, helped to boost profits to £5.3 million in 2019, although progress on the super-sewer slowed with the onset of Covid-19. Managing director John Spencer, 61, expects the company will support work on the new four-lane Silvertown tunnel in east London, due to open in 2025.
