Grampian’s acquisition of St Merryn meat confirmed its position as one of Britain’s largest meat processors, with sales of £1,470m in 2003. Grampian was founded in 1980 near Aberdeen and processes meat for customers that include the top supermarkets. The company has more than 40 operations in Britain, the Netherlands, Portugal and Thailand.
