Gymshark sells direct to consumers in 180 countries via 13 websites in four languages, an online model that saw sales grow despite lockdowns. Co-founder Ben Francis, 28, set up the Solihull firm in 2012 and — with chief executive Steve Hewitt, 47 — oversaw international sales of £206.1 million in the year to July 2020. In August, they sold a 21 per cent stake to US investors General Atlantic, valuing the company at more than £1 billion. Francis retains a 70 per cent stake.
