Gymshark sells its apparel directly to consumers in 180 countries via websites in 13 languages, with its online model helping it to grow sales in worldwide lockdowns. Co-founder Ben Francis, 28, set up the Solihull firm in 2012 and brought in chief executive Steve Hewitt, 47, in 2014. Profits rose 55 per cent to £30.6 million in the year to July 2020. The firm sold a 21 per cent stake to US investors General Atlantic in August, valuing the firm at more than £1 billion. Francis retains a 70 per cent stake. It opened its American headquarters in Denver, Colorado last month.
