Halewood’s flavoured alcoholic drinks are marketed with verve. Its Sidekick range of vodka-based drinks comes in lemon meringue and choc-mint flavours and the company says it sells 40m bottles a year of perry with the tag-line “Lambrini girls just want to have fun!” The popularity of alcopops has driven consumption of its Caribbean Twist and Red Square ranges, with sales reaching £230m in 2006. Wine agency Chalie Richards and wholesaler Classic Drinks are also part of the Liverpool firm founded by chairman John Halewood in 1978.
