Founded by chairman John Halewood in 1978, Liverpool-based Halewood’s flavoured alcoholic drinks are marketed with verve in Britain and internationally. Its Sidekick range of vodka-based drinks comes in lemon meringue and choc-mint flavours, and the company sells 40m bottles a year of Perry with the tag-line “Lambrini girls just want to have fun!” The popularity of its alcopops such as Caribbean Twist and Red Square, together with ranges like Lamb’s Navy Rum, Tsingtao beer and Herrljunga, a Swedish cider, have helped raise spirits and sales to an annualised £225.4m in 2007.
