Former Sheffield Hallam University housemates Scott Davies, 40, and Alex Munro, 41, founded Sheffield-based Hallam Medical in 2007. The pair originally planned to staff sports stadiums with medical personnel, but then saw how much demand there was for highly trained nurses and decided to change direction. Their agency now supplies temporary staff to the NHS and private healthcare sector. It specialises in placing nurse practitioners — nurses who have additional education and training in a specialist area. Last year, Key Capital Partners invested £3.3m in the company, which had sales of £20.4m this year.
