This family firm’s main operating subsidiaries are Dorrington, a property company, and Gerber Emig, a leading European fruit juice producer. Its venture-capital arm, Fresh Capital, holds investments in companies such as Zoopla, the property website. In April, Hanover announced its intention to merge Gerber Emig with Refresco, a Dutch company in which 3i has a 20% stake. Sales under Sean Gorvy, 50, chief executive and son of the company’s founder and chairman, Manfred, were £706m in 2012.
