Hastings sells motor and home insurance through brands such as Hastings Direct, Insure, People’s Choice, Likewise and Renew Insurance. The group’s British customer base passed one million in 2012, and under chief executive Gary Hoffman, 53, the company’s profits expanded to reach £62.5m in 2013. In January, Goldman Sachs acquired a 50% voting stake, valuing the company at about £700m.
