It employs 400 clinicians and cares for 150,000 patients a year from 24 sites around Britain. The treatments it delivers range from chemotherapy to blood transfusions and orthopaedic rehabilitation. In February, Vitruvian, a private-equity firm, secured a majority stake alongside existing investors in a deal where £100m of debt was refinanced on improved terms to help fund expansion. The Burton upon Trent company was founded in 1992 by chairman Charles Walsh and is run by Mike Gordon, chief executive. Sales in 2011, including those from joint ventures, totalled £977m.
