A new website launched in April has helped solidify this company’s popularity among young urban consumers. Ben Luscombe started the Manchester company in 1996 by making men’s shirts and since then has branched out into casualwear and ladies’ fashions and accessories. It sells to high-street retailers such as Bank, Republic, USC, House of Fraser and Littlewoods Shop Direct. With nine stores of its own and more on the way, the company is now marketing Henleys as a lifestyle brand and is focusing on licensing new products, including footwear. Frequent additions to the company’s clothing lines have helped sales to grow 61% a year from £6.2m in 2005 to £25.7m in 2008.
