This men’s and ladies’ fashion brand is making its mark on the high street. Henley’s designs its own casual clothing for a young urban market. A short order time and monthly deliveries to about 300 stockists, including the chains Bank and Republic, help to keep its range fresh. The Manchester company recently made its retail debut at the city’s Trafford Centre and sales reached £1.6m in its first year. Henley’s Clothing is opening a second store in Sheffield’s Meadow Hall, as well as launching an online store. Ben Luscombe founded the business in 1997, starting out as a men’s shirt brand. Branching out into womenswear and accessories has helped sales to grow 72% a year from £2.8m in 2004 to £14.1m in 2007.
