Dissatisfied with his career prospects as a computer operator, 20 year-old Roger Hendrie set up an IT recruitment company in 1968?. Only in the last few years, with the increasing demand for IT professionals equipped to deal with issues surrounding Year 2000 and Euro compliance, has the company has really taken off. Sales rose from £2.7m in 1994 to £14.4m in 1997. Trading as three independent businesses, namely Compuvac, IT Profiles, and Oric, the Essex-based company provides permanent recruitment and contracting services. Hendrie expects growth to continue well beyond the year 2000 as companies will need work on core systems they’ve ignored while focusing on Year 2000 issues.
