In 1845 it was founded as an insurance business. Today, Hogg Robinson handles travel, pensions and staff perks for its corporate clients, which it claims include 40% of FTSE 100 companies. The firm was floated on the stock market in 1963 but taken private in 2000 by the management in a £230m deal backed by Permira, the venture capitalist. Hogg Robinson has recently expanded in Singapore and has opened an international call centre in Glasgow. With 5,757 employees in 2002, its sales of £2,061m were £100m lower than in 2001.
