At the start of the year the business-services company Hogg Robinson announced a deal to acquire BTI Central Europe, the corporate-travel arm of Kuoni. This will boost Hogg Robinson’s claim to be the largest travel management company in Europe and the third largest in the world. The company’s other activities include handling pensions and employee benefits. Sales at Hogg Robinson’s holding company Farnborough reached £2,121m in 2003, £60m higher than in 2002. Hogg Robinson was floated on the stock market in 1963 but taken private in 2000 by the management in a £230m deal backed by Permira, the venture-capital firm.
