This health food and supplement retailer, led by chief executive Peter Aldis, 53, ships products such as manuka honey, vitamins and whey protein to more than 30 countries. Founded in 1870 to sell clothing and groceries, it now operates 1,368 stores around the world with a presence in 16 countries, including America and Hong Kong. In August, the Warwickshire business was acquired from asset manager Carlyle for £1.8bn by L1 Retail, a fund controlled by Russian magnate Mikhail Fridman. Its operating profits of £150m are among the highest on the league table.
