Rising fossil-fuel prices and environmental concerns have made heat pump systems all the rage in mainland Europe. This Oxfordshire firm supplies the British market with Swedish-made pumps that take heat from the ground and use it to generate hot water and heating for buildings. Customers include individuals, housing developers and corporate clients such as the Duchy of Cornwall and the National Trust. Founders Andrew Hillier and Andrew Sheldon have just raised £2m from private investors and are buying an under-floor heating company. Sales have grown 141% a year from £360,000 in 2004 to £5m in 2007.
