Sir Malcolm Walker, 73, started this frozen food retailer in 1970 with £30. The north Wales company now has more than 900 stores, including 90 of its larger Food Warehouse sites — run by the founder’s son, Richard Walker, 38 — after opening 31 new outlets last year. It also has 26 Iceland shops in Ireland and five in Norway. The company pledged to remove environmentally unfriendly palm oil from its own-brand products last year and is cutting down on plastic packaging.
