By cooling computers with a liquid-based system, Iceotope reduces the need for fans and air conditioning, helping data centres cut energy bills and run more quietly. It is targeting customers in AI and big data analytics, with partners Schneider Electric, the global electrical engineering giant, and Avnet, the American components distributor. It raised £6m in February last year, from investors including French venture capital firm Aster and Ombu, which exclusively funds advanced environmental technology companies. Iceotope was founded by director Peter Hopton, 38, and is led by chief executive David Craig, 56, who also founded wind turbine developer Green Power Partnership.
