The success of Robbie Williams has been music to the ears of IE Music, which manages the pop superstar. It signed Williams in 1996, a year after Take That split up, and the company put him in touch with the songwriter Guy Chambers. Last year Williams signed a deal reputedly worth £80m with EMI, and sales of his latest album, Escapology, have exceeded 6m. IE Music is also working with young artists who it hopes will become tomorrow’s stars. The London company takes a percentage of clients’ earnings in return for organising contractual arrangements, tours and schedules. Founders Tim Clark and David Enthoven remortgaged their homes to provide start-up funding in 1992. Sales have grown almost 68% a year from £734,000 in 1999 to £3.5m in 2002.
