IESA grew out of a company called Caldwells, which celebrates its 113th birthday this year. Caldwells started as a traditional manufacturer of engineering goods and was re-invented a century later by the founder’s great, great grandson, Ben Caldwell. The Warrington firm invested heavily in IT, and now uses its software to manage clients’ supply chains. Contracts with customers such as Pilkington and Siemens have boosted sales 59% a year from £7.4m in 2003 to £18.8m in 2005.
