Impulsepay enables people to charge online purchases to their mobile phone bill with a few clicks — for example when paying for wi-fi access on Virgin Trains — and has integrated its software with all the major UK phone networks. Founder and chief executive Chris Newell, 35, started this London company in 2009 and saw turnover, which includes the value of purchases made, reach an annualised £11.6m last year. Further growth is expected as charge-to- mobile technology becomes more popular, with future examples to include payment for concert or cinema tickets.
