Cumbria-based Innovia makes the films used as labels and wrapping on everyday objects, such as food, cigarettes and toiletries. It has manufacturing sites in Britain, America, Belgium and Australia, capable of producing more than 120,000 tonnes of film a year. Recent product innovations include compostable crisp bags and sweet wrappers. Innovia was founded in 2004 when Candover backed the £215m acquisition of the business from UCB Films. Led by chief executive David Beeby, sales reached £336.8m in 2010.
