International Tubular Services

The Aberdeen-based business was founded in 1986 by Robert Kidd, the chairman and majority shareholder, to provide drilling equipment and services to the oil-and-gas industry. The company operates from an extensive international infrastructure with 25 facilities in 16 countries. In 2009 International Tubular Services, which aims to become a leading global player in its field, raised $55m (£36m) to fund its growth aspirations by selling a minority stake to Lime Rock Partners, a private-equity company focused on the energy sector. Profits increased 55% a year from £4.6m in 2005 to £17.2m in 2008, in part bolstered by the pre-credit-crunch boom in oil prices.
