After training as a digital artist and graphic designer, Andrew Crane founded Inweb Networks as a web design firm in 1995. But after gaining a telecoms licence in 2000, Inweb now offers a range of web and telecoms services, such as broadband internet access, international carrier and premium-rate services. It has also developed a synthetic voice program that converts e-mails into speech so they can be listened to over a phone line. The company’s sales have grown 71% a year from £640,000 in 2000 to £3.2m in 2003.
