Telecom, media and entertainment companies including the BBC and Sky are hiring Ioko to design, build and run their digital media platforms. The York company, founded by university friends Mark Christie and David Griffiths in 1995, specialises in developing and managing digital platforms that deliver video-on-demand, gaming and social networking. It helped to develop Channel 4’s award-winning on-demand viewing service, for example. Growth in digital media has helped the company to expand —it opened an office in San Diego this year. Ioko’s sales have grown 43% a year from £9.4m in 2004 to £27.6m in 2007.
