Founded by Stephen Ives in 1989, Ives Development has increased sales 69% a year, from £1.4m in 1996 to £6.7m in 1999. The Huntingdon-based software developer has built three distinct arms: software development, software consultancy and new-technology solutions. Vice-president Annie Anderson says the company’s service range and customer responsiveness have driven growth. It now has exports of £3.6m and offers a 24-hour response system all over the world. The decision to allow the company’s three arms to specialise fully in their core areas was formalised last December when three new companies were formed: 3G Lab, Aspective and Ives Development. With sales predicted to double this year, Stephen Ives still found time for a 7,000 mile charity bike ride from San Francisco to Tokyo to raise funds for Unicef.
