Family-owned Jankel started by building hand-made Panther sports cars in the 1950s and moved on to provide armoured Rolls-Royces. In the past 20 years it has worked on defence and government contracts to provide armoured vehicles and products to protect the vehicles’ occupants. In addition to its manufacturing facility at its Surrey headquarters, Jankel licenses its patents and designs to manufacturers in America and to a company in Jordan that makes armoured Toyota Land Cruisers for a wide variety of customers around the world. New product development has helped to boost international sales, which have grown 96% a year, from £7.3m in 2009 to £28m in 2011 under group chairman Andrew Jankel.
